Fifty years ago, during the Civil Rights and Black Power movements, four African American mothers launched The West Oakland Health Council.  It immediately rose up to become the neighborhood anchor for healthcare, health education, food and housing programs, and voter registration. The clinic became a spark that led to a transformation in health care advocacy in California and the nation.  

Today, we honor our proud legacy as we strive to fulfil our mission and be the trusted hub advancing the Bay Area Black community’s health and dignity. Our commitment to improving our community’s health and well-being, especially Black Maternal Health, is truly in our DNA.

For that reason, we are now allowing mothers and their infants to receive maternal education and support right at their homes through a dedicated team of experienced maternal child health providers ready to support you at any language virtually at your home!
